With a dynamic healthcare sector, top-tier post-secondary institutions, international programming, a superior network of technicians, and a highly-trained workforce, Eastern Ontario has attracted numerous successful digital technology companies and government support for the development of health innovation.
Superior Network Of Technicians
The EOIC region is equipped with a highly trained workforce stemming from a superior network of technicians and post-secondary graduates as well as support from the government for the development and growth of health innovation in the region. For the City of Kingston, for example, FedDev Ontario — in partnership with Queen’s University, St. Lawrence College, GreenCentre Canada, Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Kingston Economic Development Corporation — recently announced a 3-million-dollar investment to establish a health innovation ecosystem in the region with the aim of creating 100 skilled jobs, developing and growing 37 SMEs and commercializing 10 new health innovations.
