Stages Of Business
Spark Centre — one of Ontario’s Regional Innovation Centres — supports entrepreneurs centered in technology and innovation and, through the SUV Program seeks out high-potential startups to support their growth within Canada and into global markets through targeted services, programs, and advisory. Synergy Lab provides international startups with specialized programming and services — like its renowned Pioneer Program — to assist them in transitioning to a Canadian operation and to help them gain traction and scale once they have arrived.
Providing businesses access to
Research & Development opportunities
One of Canada's Top Universities
As one of the top universities in Canada, Queen’s University has brought together, and built synergies among, leading researchers, innovators, and businesses to provide access to a wealth of support for research and development, business incubation and acceleration for more than 175 years.
Queen’s University Partnerships and Innovations (QPI) team supports connections with Queen’s top-tier academic experts, students, research facilities and equipment. These resources can be leveraged for collaborative research and development projects and service agreements to greatly enhance product development and commercialization. In addition to a wealth of networking opportunities as well as 1:1 support to connect with the right resources, QPI also assists with the identification of funding requirements and opportunities to support the success of collaborative projects. Talent can also be accessed through a variety of student projects, internship opportunities and recruitment support.
In addition to Queen’s University, the EOIC also provides access to a host of research facilities and academic institutions — like Durham College, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, St. Lawrence College and Loyalist College— to aid SMEs with research and development, training, business and technical advice, validation of new technologies and more.
Interested in connecting to an EOIC hub?
In March of 2021, Spark Centre led an Innovation Roundtable with the Honourable Prabmeet Sarkaria, Associate Minister of Small Business and Red Tape Reduction and four Ontario-based entrepreneurs who pivoted their innovations to support pandemic efforts — GroundLevel Insights, WeTraq, Data H and Pentavere— moderated by Jeff Steiner from Angel Investors Ontario.
TechEx is an exclusive showcase of some of the best startups with cutting-edge technology that Eastern Ontario has to offer. It also provides investors and industry leaders to learn more about, and provide feedback on, these innovations as well as to gain and share insight.
