Everything begins with an idea. If you’re thinking of starting a business, then your success hinges on your ability to generate ideas that light you up while connecting with a real need in the marketplace.
The Idea Generator workshop hosted by WE-CAN and presented by Rise is an interactive session that will allow participants to learn how to generate new business ideas and walk away with at least three possible ideas to explore further.
If you have just begun your entrepreneurial journey and want to learn more, this workshop is for you!
During this 90-minute workshop, participants will the answers to questions like:
· Is entrepreneurship right for me?
· Where do creative ideas come from?
· How can I use my hobbies, pet peeves and/or skills to generate ideas for a business?
· How can I come up with innovative ideas?
This session will also include a live Q&A.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Nicole Osmond has dedicated her 20+ year career working in the field of people empowerment, and entrepreneurship has been her focus. She has had the pleasure of supporting a 1000+ entrepreneurs across Atlantic Canada through her roles at Nova Scotia Community College, Rise, Futurpreneur Canada, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development, YMCA, and CBDC. This experience — combined with her own entrepreneurial ventures – fuel Nicole’s innate curiosity, solution focused mindset, and genuine interest in lifelong learning. Today, she aims to empower and equip others with the tools and mindset to thrive in their own entrepreneurial journey.
Rise is a national organization dedicated to empowering people with mental health and addiction challenges to achieve greater social and economic inclusion through entrepreneurship. Through training, mentorship, micro-financing, and other customs supports, Rise helps individuals develop the skills and access the capital they need to build a small business that can improve their quality of life and enable them to support their families and communities.
Launched nationally in the fall of 2023, Rise’s Women+ Entrepreneurship Program empowers diverse women, including trans women and non-binary individuals who experience mental health and addiction challenges with the skills and confidence to pursue self-employment. Delivered in a safe and inclusive digital space, this trauma-informed program is rooted in decolonized and accessible feminist philosophy. That means it’s designed to address the unique barriers to entrepreneurship that women and gender-diverse communities face and allows for its outcomes to be shaped by participants’ experiences and identities.
