Eastern Ontario’s knowledge-based green economy ecosystem is dedicated to long-term sustainability and energy efficiency. The corridor is host to globally recognized companies, cutting edge technologies, an innovative business support environment and ground-breaking research and development assets where companies can develop, grow and thrive. Eastern Ontario’s green economy is broad based but has expertise in solar energy, wastewater treatment, smart grid, environmental services and green construction.

Durham Region, for example, produces approximately 30% of Ontario’s electricity and is the home base for some of the largest and most innovative Canadian and international companies including Hydro One, Ontario Power Generation, Elexicon Energy, Hubbell, ABB, Aecom and more, employing over 10,000 energy professionals.
